Waiting - a season that just seems to never end for our family. Long seasons of waiting are never easy, especially in a world where we want instant answers, gratification, or a quick fix "pill". Being in a season of waiting is a reminder of who is in control and that God's timing is truly not our own. These last few years of my life have been dark and difficult, but yet this place of waiting in weakness has drawn our entire family closer to Jesus.
The desperation I have felt so many days during this season completely changed my relationship with my Heavenly Father. It was when it seemed like I had nothing that He truly became my everything. I have learned what it means to throw yourself at the feet and mercy of our LORD literally on a daily basis because it was the only way to survive another day. There is beauty in a life totally dependent upon His strength, joy and peace. A life that is surrendered to His timeline.
"Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord."
Psalm 27:14
A season of waiting - the middle of our stories. It can be the hardest thing we will ever walk through, but it can also be one of the greatest blessings. Waiting allows us to let go and to trust our Savior like never before. It allows us to realize that His ways are not our ways, but that we can find joy even in the midst of deep suffering.
There is purpose in the waiting. There is always a purpose. Ask Him to reveal it to you. He may not right away, but in time parts will be revealed to you and you will one day see the end from the beginning when we cross Heaven's gates.
Press into the waiting friend and let God use it for His glory. Take joy in submitting your deepest desires and dreams to Him. Never stop dreaming - no matter how dark the day may be. Dreams help to give you hope and a future.
If it is something God does not intend for you, you will one day see what a blessing it was to lay it down at His feet and release it. If it is something God intends to fulfill, be all the more grateful. He is more than trustworthy to bring the details to life. Trust and take heart in the beautiful surrender of waiting on the Lord.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on our own understanding, in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6
Praying for those of you today who are in your own extended season of waiting. May God draw you close and continue to cover you with His grace as you trust Him. Believing you will see His goodness being poured out in this season as you walk towards victory.
